WELCOME
WELCOME TO THE HOME PAGE OF THE ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL TOUR GUIDES - SPLIT (UTVS)!

If you'd like to discover the City of Split, then you're at the right site.

Our professional guides will take you on an unforgettable two hour tour through Split history.
Together we'll unfold the layers back to the antique period, explore the grand substructures of Diocletian's Palace or perhaps try to decifer the engraved signs in the massive limestone blocks from Brač.

The Roman Emperor Diocletian had the first foundation stones laid for his luxurious palace in the 3rd Century AD, and in the centuries that followed the citizens of Split added to its beauty transforming it to a city. Nowhere in the world can you see elements of antiquity, romanesque, gothic, renaissance and modern architecture intertwined in one place.

Egyptian sphinxes and romanesque lions over the centuries bear witness to the past of the town of Split, beauty and beliefs of its citizens.

The Egyptian sphinx still today guards Diocletian's tomb, while the romanesque lions enhance the bell-tower dedicated to St. Domnius, the patron saint of Split.

As fate shall have it, what was once a haven of Christian persecution evolved into a medieval city where Christianity prevailed.
